Communication difficulties in individuals with stroke – Challenges and Solutions

Communication problems are very common after a stroke. Stroke survivors struggle with different issues like difficulty to speak and understand, unclear speech, difficulties in reading and writing and swallowing problems. Such problems make it difficult for them to function independently and a speech language pathologist can help them with all these concerns. Speech and Language therapy aims to help restore as much of the person’s speech and language as possible, help them communicate to the best of their ability. It is important to understand the need for rehabilitation and to administer the planned interventions in this population to improve their quality of life.
