“Is it too loud?” – Facts about unhealthy sound exposure, hazards and prevention

Unhealthy listening habits may lead to permanent and progressive hearing loss. WHO estimates that approximately 1.1 billion young people worldwide could be at risk of hearing loss due to unsafe listening practices. Among them nearly half of the population are at an age range of 12- 35 years. The effect of this behaviour is not only restricted to the auditory system but also involves various other systems in the body. Currently there are no medicines or surgeries available that can reverse the damage caused by the unsafe listening habits. But these damages can be prevented by being cautious and by taking preventive measures.
