Prevention of falls is a key component of Parkinson’s disease care, as motor and non-motor symptoms substantially increase the risk of balance impairment, injuries, and reduced quality of life. This topic reviews the prevalence and causes of falls, including postural instability, gait disturbances, freezing of gait, rigidity, bradykinesia, visual–spatial deficits, and medication effects. It describes structured fall-prevention protocols emphasizing early risk identification, regular assessment of balance and mobility, and individualized management. Core strategies include physiotherapy-based balance and strength training, gait re-education, appropriate assistive devices, medication optimization, and environmental modifications to reduce hazards. Patient and caregiver education and care support safety.
