“Sexuality is a crucial aspect of daily living (ADLs) and significantly impacts an individual’s quality of life. As an activity of daily life (ADL), sexual activity falls within the domain of occupational therapy (OT), with occupational therapists working to address all areas related to it. This is considered ‘fundamental for living in a social world and enables basic survival and well-being,’ and is often addressed through occupational therapy interventions. Occupational therapy also plays a vital role in adapting sexual activity to meet clients’ desires and safety needs. This session will discuss approaches to promote autonomy, dignity, and inclusive support for persons with disabilities in matters of sexuality, challenges, and best practices, respectfully and informatively.”
