Parkinson’s disease is a “degenerative disease” affecting the brain. “Degenerative diseases” are a group of disorders which result from progressive and premature death of nerve cells in the brain. Parkinson’s disease, in general is a disease of old age; it becomes more and more common as age advances. It is seen in around 1% of the population above 60 years. Rarely, the disease could start even in 20’s.
The NIDAS webinar creates awareness among people especially parents and caregivers of the individuals with disability, and thus provides a platform to share their concerns and clear doubts. For more than two years, NIDAS has been successful in creating awareness regarding various aspects of disability and associated issues.
